McIver train station was opened on 1st September 1989. Named after Ken McIver, a long serving steam engine driver and Labor member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly for Northam and Avon from 1968 until 1986, the station was purpose-built to provide access directly to Royal Perth Hospital.

I don't like the walk way from McIver station the Hospital. It looks very unfinished, and makes me feel very uneasy walking across it.

Much safer to go straight to Perth station and avoid here if possible if travelling alone. Feel uncomfortable walking past the groups of people hanging around outside.

this is the station you need to alight to get to the Royal Perth Hospital. also, its a FTZ station .. so its free into the city (next stop)

I see people within the station limits smoking cigarettes while standing close to public passage. Most of the time I have to hold my breath until I pass then! Most of the regular commuters from this stations are decent office people and they have to go through this. Transperth need to start taking some actions on this. They got video surveillance and Law, not sure why they not using it.
