I have been here a few times before and it has always been great. This time I wanted to try a few martini's, had a couple of nice ones and then asked the lady behind the bar if she could make a Sapphire Blue martini my favourite. The lady ecelled. The drinks were perfection. And watching them being made was great. And the bar is a great unassuming place and all the staff are very friendly and helpful the perfect place for a couple of friends or that after work group and with a small but very tasty food menu. A good fusion of all the best things you want in a local bar. I would have given the 6 stars but for one thing, not enough GIN please buy more Gin.

To the Owner of Bar 399, if you or your manger have a bar staff member without the ability to talk (due to whatever reason) do not put them at front of house! Expecting patrons to read body language from a surly, distant staff member was incredibly frustrating. I only wanted a GnT. Im given a tumbler filled literally to the top of the glass with ice for no obvious reason. After some disinterested gestures I came to understand there was only room temperature tonic. I default to water and now I get no ice. With mute, inhospitable bar staff without a sliver of warmth delivering this routine dont be surprised if people turn away. Weve all worked bars, having cold mixers is elementary. (It was perplexing to see the tonic water sitting in your spirits tray, rather than in your ice chest or fridge.) The painful episode said much about management and staff. Incredibly negative experience.
I like this bar. Non pretentious, the bar stuff have personality and they do very yummy finger food. In a comfortable setting where you can it with friends and hear each other talk but relax to some nice beats. Good cocktail selection which I will certainly try next time.
Great happy hour and very affordable bar food thats tasty. Not hugely packed so if youre after a lively night this wouldnt be my first suggestion. Great place to catch up with friends and be able to hear the conversation
