Such a great hospital this and friendly and helpful staff eh top marks imv
The mount hospital After having a spinal surgery the last thing you want is to be in a noisey environment. Some of the staff were great. A lot of loud staff especially aftanoon and night shift absulutly bloody joke. Two nights in a row when in severe pain had to get out of bed and go looking for a nurse. To give me medication as to not responding to the emergency buzzer for 20 30 minutes or a pleasant thing to go through at all. NOT HAPPY"
I was very well looked after for the week I was here. No complaints!
I've just had a procedure done here and must say that I am very pleased and impressed with the level of care that I have received from the nurses. My questions were always answered/followed up and I was really listened to. The place also looks like a hotel when you first walk in. Excellent staff, thank you.
I was admitted twice within four days as my surgery had to be cancelled the first time.Prior to the first admission I was told to shower the night before using a surgical scrub type soap. I was also told that once I was admitted to hospital in the morning I would be told that I would again have to shower using the scrub. After several hours sitting on the bed I asked why I hadnt been made ready for my surgery. I was told a nurse would be with me in a few minutes. Eventually a nurse came and told me to get dressed in the robe, which I did. She then came back in, told me to put disposable underwear on and she then put a pair of compression stockings on. I asked her why I hadnt had a shower as advised. She told me that I should have had it at home so I had to undress, shower and get dressed again.Anyway, it was all a waste of time as I was sent home due to my surgery being cancelled.I was re-admitted several days later. This time no one mentioned showering in the scrub soap.I was placed in a shared room even though I had requested a private room. I was told I would be shifted once a single room became vacant. That happened later in the afternoon of the next day. What a shock. I went from a relatively quiet, large room to a very noisy shoe box.The room faced Mounts Bay Road so was very busy and lots of traffic noise as the window is not double glazed. The main door to my tiny room faced a very busy, noisy area. Phones and nurse call buzzers going all day and night. Staff banging trolleys and people standing outside my door talking day and night. The TV worked in a fashion but some channels didnt work at all and others had vision but no sound. On discharge I was told I would have to walk up the street to the pharmacy to get my medication. I had just undergone major spinal surgery so this was very difficult for me to do.Most of my nursing staff were fantastic. Very caring. I would never recommend this hospital under any circumstances but unfortunately when you have an exceptional surgeon and this is where he operates then you have little choice.
